TEPC Earth Moving & landscaping

We are currently executing a large-scale earth moving and landscaping project at Payra Port in collaboration with Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company (TEPC). The scope of work includes the development of approximately 4,000 square meters of green area, large-scale site preparation and earthworks, and the plantation of over 200,000 trees as part of an environmental enhancement and coastal greening initiative. This project demonstrates our capability to deliver high volume landscaping solutions, sustainable plantation programs, and precision ground development works within complex infrastructure environments.

  • Mangrove deliver important eco-system services: they are carbon sinks, serve as water filters, are hotspots for biodiversity, protect coasts from erosion and support socio-economic activitites.
  • The island is built using dredged material from a local access channel, making this type of nature-based solutions economically feasible.
  • We established a local management system for the mangrove island, building upon its ecological and socio-economic value. Local stakeholders and communities were involved in every step of the project and act as custodians.

Challenges Of Landscaping Project

Delivering a large-scale landscaping and earth moving project in a coastal environment like Payra involves several challenges. Saline soil conditions, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and seasonal flooding require careful soil treatment, proper drainage planning, and the selection of resilient plant species to ensure long-term sustainability.

Managing extensive earthworks and the plantation of over 200,000 trees also demands strong logistical coordination, quality control, and efficient resource management. Additionally, working within an active infrastructure site requires strict safety measures and close coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain smooth project execution.

Challenges Of TEPC Project

The TEPC landscaping project at Payra Port presents significant technical and environmental challenges due to its coastal location and large-scale scope. High soil salinity, unpredictable weather conditions, and heavy rainfall require careful soil preparation, proper drainage systems, and the selection of climate-resilient plant species.

In addition, executing extensive earthworks and planting over 200,000 trees demands precise planning, strong logistical coordination, and strict quality control. Working within a major infrastructure development site also requires adherence to safety standards, efficient resource management, and close coordination with project stakeholders to ensure timely and successful completion.
AquaForest is an international project consortium coordinated by Jan De Nul. Partners include: South Pole, Mantis Consulting, Haedes, University ESPOL in Ecuador, University of Antwerp, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and the NGO Fundación Calisur. We also involve local authorities, government, researchers, and local communities. The project is subsidised the Flemish government via the Flanders International Climate Action Programme and by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
