Modern riverbank protection increasingly relies on geotextile technology because it offers flexible, durable, and economical alternatives to traditional concrete or stone protection systems.
A complete geotextile protection system typically combines:
Together these materials create a stable revetment system that protects riverbanks while allowing natural drainage and soil stability.

Geo bags are widely used in river bank revetment systems to protect slopes against erosion.
Material: Non-woven needle-punched geotextile (PP / PET)
Weight Capacity: 78 – 126 kg per bag
GSM Range: 150 – 1000 GSM (customizable)
Custom Sizes: Available according to project requirements

Geotextile tubes, commonly known as Geo Tubes, are large cylindrical containers made from high-strength geotextile fabric and filled hydraulically with sand slurry.
Material: High-strength woven geotextile fabric
Weight Capacity: Typically 10 m – 100 m
GSM Range: 400 – 1000 GSM
Filling Method: Hydraulic filling with sand slurry

Geotextile sheets are non-woven filtration fabrics used as separation and filter layers beneath geo bags and revetment structures.
Material: Non-woven needle-punched geotextile
Material Type: Polypropylene (PP) or Polyester (PET)
GSM Range: 200 – 600 GSM (commonly used)
Maximum GSM: Up to 1000 GSM
SIMEX Bangladesh follows a proven multi-layer installation method to ensure long-term riverbank stability.
Step 1 – Riverbed Preparation
The riverbank slope is cleaned and shaped to create a stable base. Loose soil and debris are removed before installation begins.
Step 2 – Geotextile Filter Layer Installation
A geotextile sheet is installed over the prepared slope to act as a filter layer, preventing soil erosion while allowing water drainage.
Step 3 – Geo Bag Installation
Sand-filled geo bags are placed over the geotextile sheet in interlocking layers to create a strong protective revetment system.
Step 4 – Geo Tube Placement
For large-scale projects, geo tubes are installed at the toe of the slope to provide additional structural stability and prevent scouring.
Step 5 – Surface Protection
Additional protection layers or vegetation may be added depending on the project design.
